There are nearly 5,000 manufacturers in the Tampa Bay region. The skills gap is already limiting the business growth a reported 47% of them, and without attention the gap will continue to grow.

Tampa Bay’s top business and economic development organizations have joined together to identify the current workforce needs of area manufacturers, and provide proactive recommendations to ensure a steady pipeline of talent as we prepare for anticipated growth. The comprehensive survey below digs deep into the specific employee skills and training that will help manufacturers increase competitiveness and productivity.

Below are their findings and a summary of the actions taken in the last year to address the gaps:

A three-year follow up to the 2013 Hillsborough-Pinellas Manufacturing Skills Gap Analysis was conducted in 2016 and responses were compared to the initial survey to assess any changes regarding the extent of challenges identified in the original survey.
